U-Turn Round – Nudgee Beach
Nudgee Beach is a hotspot for outdoor activities in the beautiful Brisbane Boondall Wetlands. With a network of meandering pathways along the coastline and open parklands, it’s the perfect place for bike rides and dog walks. The internationally significant wetlands are also home to a thriving bird population making it a prominent bird-watching destination.
As a family friendly destination, Brisbane City Council commissioned Armsign to create interpretive points of interest around the beach. The Armsign team put their heads together and came up with a colourful solution that would appeal to all – a unique signage unit consisting of several spinning graphics panels coupled with a pair of binoculars and one of Blackbox-av’s U-Turn Rounds.
Among its many selling points (not least its ability to provide audio interpretation outdoors without power) the U-Turn was chosen for its durability, able to withstand the sprays of seawater that churn up over the shorefront during high winds.
The U-Turn Round here also bears custom artwork created by Armsign, geared towards an older demographic interested to hear about the bird calls associated with each species. Visitors simply select a number on the dial correlating to one of the displayed birds, then wind the handle to power the device and listen.
