Touch-Table Timeline Software – Finchingfield Guildhall
As part of this extensive rejuvenation project Smith and Jones Design Consultants were commissioned to interpret the buildings past and create a new museum space. We were in turn commissioned to provide and install the hardware and software that would enable their vision.
Amongst various hardware solutions we provided a large 46″ ‘Grand’ Multi-Touch Table and bespoke software. This impressive piece of kit is somewhat of a focal point, with the bespoke museum software allowing visitors to view the surrounding village as it changed throughout the years, with a focus on its iconic buildings.
Interactive Timeline Software
Working closely with Smith and Jones who were responsible for the design, development and direction of the content and graphics we produced this interactive museum software, designed to give visitors a better understanding of how Finchingfield as a village has grown throughout the ages.
You can see it in action during testing (along with other interactives created for this project) in the video below.
The software has two functions, first users can see an overview of the village with various selectable ‘hot spots’ over buildings, once selected they provide information regarding that building and images the user can explore.
The second function is an interactive timeline, starting from 100,000 years in the past visitors can sweep through history via gesture controls and view the village as it springs up around 1000BC as a small settlement. Information is provided at each milestone as the village animation changes to graphically depict the village growing.
With multi-touch capability and such a large size the Grand Multi-touch table and bespoke museum timeline software is perfect for engaging all members of the family at the same time and has so far been a big hit with visitors.
