Timeline Interactive – Bentley Priory Museum
Operating as Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain, RAF Bentley Priory (now Bentley Priory Museum) played a key role in the defence of the United Kingdom at the peak of World War II. Dedicated to sharing this history with visitors we have worked with the Museum on various interpretive projects over the years, not least an ultra-long timeline interactive covering the Battle of Britain – a four-month struggle to deny Nazi Germany air superiority over the United Kingdom.
Utilising archive materials including first hand diary accounts, photographs, oral histories and other documents this interactive tells the story of the Battle from 10th July through to 31st October. Referencing original plotting maps from the time period we illustrated a timeline that utilises historically accurate command blocks and arrows that when selected share further information on the presented date.
Built with our software package Lightbox 3 – Hotspot and presented on 3 x 43″ touchscreens, this bespoke interactive unit is truly a showpiece. With the timeline spread across 3 screens multiple users are able to interact at once while audio is shared via our Heavy Duty Handset Recoilers, avoiding audio bleed and ensuring cables are automatically retracted for tidy storage when not in use.
With fascinating archival materials presented on an impressive unit that draws the attention of visitors, this bespoke build is a great addition to the visitor experience at Bentley Priory Museum and a wonderful example of the flexibility of our software.
