Founded over three quarters of a century ago, the Dales Countryside Museum has undergone renames, relocations, redevelopments and extensions until settling into its modern incarnation. Here you’ll find a collection of items that can help to chart a history of Yorkshire Dales National Park, dating back over two centuries.
“Working with the graphic designer Joe Essex from Room For Design in Northallerton and the Yorkshire Dales Countryside Museum we wanted to bring some very old audio recordings back to life” says Steve Farley, Director at Ark Display Graphics. For the ‘In Your Words’ exhibition, they developed four bespoke audio posts that covered life in the Yorkshire Dales in the 50’s and 60’s, particularly the difference in dialect and family words used by the fieldworkers from Leeds University at the time.
