In each room the “MiiaMillaMallika nupp“ plays a different story in connection with the room. All voice overs are done by children and is available to listen to in English, Estonian and Russian.”
– Sandra Aleksius, Project Manager at Motor OÜ
Located in Tallinn, Estonia and first built around 1936, what was once Kadriorg Children’s Park main building has (after renovations in 2007) since opened as Children’s Museum Miiamilla in 2012.
Designed and built by Motor in cooperation with KOKO architects, Children’s Museum Miiamilla’s new permanent exhibition “Children’s World Spaces” fosters child development through playful exploration. The new exhibition is for everyone who enjoys playing, exploring and letting their imaginations wander freely. Sandra Aleksius, Project Manager at Motor OÜ, goes on to explain further;
“Anchored in empathy, Children’s World Spaces encourages self-discovery and understanding of relationships within safe methodical environments. Divided into inner, outer and fantasy worlds, the exhibition promotes learning through experimentation, boundary-setting, and conflict resolution. Collaboratively developed with curators and children, it features interactive exhibits and storytelling to engage visitors in meaningful discussions about emotions and the world around us.”
“Behind creating each staged room – world – from concept to implementation – there was a team of various competency. From curators, project team, interior architect, engineers to illustrator, animator, craft artists, props etc. Children also contributed in creating the new exhibition too. Among many examples, they drew “Emotion characters“ that were turned into physical toys by a puppeteer, drew abstract emotions that can be found on the curtains and carpets in the museum, and wrote stories that you can listen to through headphones.”
