SB Lite Soundstore – Gromit Unleashed
The aim is to raise money for Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal – a charity for the Bristol Children’s Hospital. The sculptures will be deployed all around Bristol for 10 weeks, creating a trail people can explore in an attempt to find every Gromit! They will then be part of an exhibition at Beacon House, and auctioned off for charity soon afterwards.
One Gromit of particular interest is that of musician and TV presenter Jools Holland. His (as you would expect) musically themed Gromit also boasts some push button activated audio built into a plinth beside, created using our SB-Lite solid state audio player.
You simply hit a big red button and the Gromit – named ‘Bumble Boogie’ – will play a specially recorded soundtrack based on ‘The Flight of the Bumblebee’, as recreated by Jools and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra adding a very nice and unique touch to his Gromit offering. You can find out more about the music he recorded in this short video below.
Keep an eye out in Bristol in the coming weeks for some particularly impressive Gromits, including the Royal Mints ‘National Treasure’, which consists of Gromit covered in 10,000 new one pence coins, and the very special ‘Gromit Lightyear’ as provided by Pixar and modeled on the well known Buzz Lightyear, complete with space helmet!
Bumble Boogie has been a huge hit with Gromit hunters and has been residing in Colston Hall, bringing out lots of dance moves from the public. All of the proceeds from this art trail will go to the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal; a very worthy cause indeed.
