Open Frame Video Screens – New Lanark Visitor Centre

A permanent exhibition has opened at the New Lanark Visitor Centre in Scotland based around the dramatic landscape of the Clyde & Avon Valley. The exhibition, Shaping The Landscape tells the story of how the landscape has shaped the lives of the residents within the villages and around the spinning mill which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site – currently only 1 of 6 in Scotland. Visitors are able to explore the geological story of the landscape and how coal swamps, ice sheets and rivers have created the landscape that is celebrated by many today.

As part of the exhibition, three of our Open Frame Video Screens were installed after by CMC Associates who oversaw the audio visual installation. Working in partnership with Abound Design (who oversaw the design of the exhibition) our screens were built into bespoke button activated housing units. The 10″ Screen resides as an eight button unit next to an interactive map of Lanark where visitors can press the buttons to watch videos discussing different certain areas of geology on the map, which will light up as the video plays.

Our 22″ screens were also installed within bespoke button units of a similar design but with four buttons. Each of the units detail a different aspect of the exhibition including how the changing landscape affected those who lived there and how the landscape has been looked after by residents.
