Bryngarw Country Park – Visitor Centre

Bryngarw Country Park is known as a bit of a hidden gem in Bridgend, with 100 acres of beautiful woodlands, meadows and gardens the Country Park offers a great day out. Explore the history behind the Bryngarw Country House built in the early 1800s, wander the parklands with various heritage paths and drop in at the Visitor Centre.

Smith & Jones Design Consultants were commissioned by Bryngarw Country park to overhaul the Visitor Centre, with a brief to provide a modern and child-friendly location that will educate visitors on the local area’s fauna, history and heritage.

We were brought on board to provide the hardware and software solutions that would help make this happen. Central to the new interpretation scheme is a huge 65″ screen that utilises RFID allowing visitors to scan slabs that activate information regarding the surrounding area.

There are also two 43” touchscreens with i7 PC’s running Lightbox 3, our unique software package developed with museum and heritage use in mind. In this instance the application ‘Collections’ was used to display a selection of educational videos on one screen and a range of Bryngarw Country Park photos (in waterfall layout) submitted by visitors on the other.

By a small seating area our 15″ Open Frame screen was used alongside wave sensors to play a selection of video content. You’ll also see a battery powered outdoor digital A-Board was used to present various information.

These new additions fit wonderfully with the Visitor Centre’s sleek and modern refurbishment. Visitors are now able to learn a great deal about Bryngarw Country Park in an engaging and interactive way.
