Audio Players and Headphones – Stockholm Transport Museum

{

“Blackbox-av’s headphones are used across all four floors of the museum, the top floor containing a notable example where visitors can listen to a ‘Pigeon’ that considers humans “a bit stupid” with their efforts to expand the public transport system.”

-Petter Feltenstedt, Kalmar Mediespecialist AB

The Spårvägsmuseet museum has been going for over a century, it covers more than 150 years of Stockholm’s transport history which includes nearly 70 vehicles, 10,000 miscellaneous objects, 20,000 drawings and 500,000 photos (30,000 of which have been digitised for their preservation).

The Heavy Duty Handsets are ideal for a busy museum environment such as this, securely stored on their magnetic hangers when not in use and designed to be robust enough to stand up to the kind of punishment you’d expect from a site that attracts huge amounts of visitors every day. In some instances the optional branding labels were included to add a nice finishing touch to the installation and help visitors understand what audio could be accessed within.

On the fourth floor you can find a particularly unique audio exhibit, two Heavy Duty Handsets (with buttons) provide access to audio from the perspective of… a pigeon. The pigeon looks down (literally) on the people of Stockholm as they plan to expand their public transport system. One button activates content in Swedish while the other in English, ensuring most visitors can enjoy this comedic stop in the exhibit.

You’ll also find our Armoured Cable Double Cup headphones used with handy auto-play functionality. This installation has a more relaxed atmosphere, despite featuring an audiovisual show with several large backlit images and speakers. The audio that comes through the speakers are in Swedish, so the double cup headphones – customised with flags to denote their language – offer information in English. The unique hangers have a custom auto-play style relay (audio only comes through when the headphones are lifted from the hanger), preventing unwanted whisper-style noise pollution.
