Audio Frame – The Atkinson

With a history spanning three centuries, the Atkinson is Southport’s home for music, theatre, art, literature and history. Among the many events and temporary exhibitions they hold, The Atkinson also boasts a fine art gallery, library, theatre, studio and art shop.
The Atkinson holds collections relating to the history of the Borough of Sefton with many objects on display in their Museum. Stephen Whittle, Principal Manager for The Atkinson explains one such section of the Sefton exhibition and Blackbox-av’s contribution.
Our exhibition celebrates the contribution of the Windrush generation in the Sefton area. We wanted to present first-hand accounts of peoples experiences and memories in as direct and engaging a way as possible. The Audio Frame from Blackbox-av allowed us to do that very effectively. It’s very easy to upload audio clips and simple to use. Importantly in a busy gallery space its robust and easy to clean.

Opting for a colourful yet simple button display that merely numbers each available button instead of providing a full tracklist, allows the venue to update content at will and utilise the AudioFrame in new exhibitions well into the future.
