22″ All-In-One Touchscreen – Thackray Medical Museum
The museum contacted us for a touchscreen that could be used in their Birth Stories project, a collaboration between the museum and the University of Leeds. Working together with members of a local Afghan Women’s Group they were able to collect a series of stories which were then published online, focusing on stories of childbirth. The next requirement was to allow visitors to the museum access to this online repository. For this purpose we supplied a 22″ All-in-One Touchscreen which provides a simple yet elegant platform to view and engage with interactive content.
The touchscreen in this instance was set up by the museum to link to Yarn, which is a community storytelling application created by the University of Leeds (and was used to host the Afghan Women’s stories) where users can create stories using material from the web and archive partners. Here, users can browse the stories that have been submitted to the website and can even add their own through the touchscreen.
The touchscreen has enabled visitors to engage with and add content to the Yarn website, while bringing in interactive interpretation to the exhibition.
