22” All-in-One Touchscreen & Lightbox 2 – St George’s Church
– David Clements
“As part of a Heritage Lottery-funded project to conserve the fabric of the Grade 1-listed St. George’s Church in Hinton St. George, we decided to install a touch-screen terminal to enable residents, schoolchildren and visitors to engage more closely with the history of the church and the village. Initially, we approached 9 potential suppliers of a terminal, 5 of whom made a proposal.
We wanted to buy an off-the-shelf system that would be likely to get better support over its life rather than a bespoke system which might be difficult to support, even though this might have resulted in some loss of functionality. We also wanted a system that would be easy to load with content and simple for users of all ages. Even though the team procuring the unit had little experience of such products, it soon became obvious that blackbox-av was the only company which was able to meet our needs at price which we could afford.
Indeed, the initial proposal from blackbox-av was so close to our requirements that very few changes were necessary before we could place an order. The system as supplied was easy to install and after a morning’s training, we found it relatively straightforward to load with content, which is in our case primarily videos of various aspects of the church and the village. Although we are still refining the system, it has created a lot of interest and is fulfilling its intended role. I can recommend blackbox-av to prospective purchasers of such a product and would be happy to discuss our experiences with them.”
