Many thanks, we are extremely happy with the standard of the boards and the professional and courteous service provided by the whole team.

– Owain Gruffydd, Secretary, Capel Newydd, Llandeilo

Capel Newydd in Llandeilo was constructed in 1901, it’s a Gothic structure with deep ties to the community. Although it still operates as a church to this day Capel Newydd is also a place of historical significance, it’s with this in mind that we were contacted regarding a way to help interpret this history and share it with visitors. We were asked to add a more engaging twist to standard signage with the inclusion of button activated video screens.

Capel Newydd Screen in Signage

The signage design itself was taken care of by the client team working with Menter Bro Dinefwr, Language Initiative and Community Development Agency – however we were responsible for manufacture of the boards as well as devising a way to include button activated video clips. For this we utilised our 7″ open frame Video Screen which thanks to its open frame design and up to 8 button inputs was the ideal choice.

The end result is very happy client and a series of interpretation panels which tell the story of Capel Newydd in a more diverse and engaging manner than is usually expected from traditional signage.

A key attraction in Bwlch Nant yr Arian is the Elenydd Trail which combines poetry, sculpture and storytelling to bring visitors welsh myths, legends and folktales that bring the landscape to life. A series of sculptures created by Dan Lock are situated at different points of the trail which are accompanied with the voice of “Elenydd” who represents the landscape and recounts some of the folktales that are known around the area.

Bwlch Nant yr Arian Sculpture by Dan Lock Heritage Interpretation

As part of the outdoor trail five of our UTR Oversized Through Panels were supplied when Dan Lock got in touch with us looking for outdoor interpretation for the project. As our U-Turn Round units are able to work with no mains power, they were able to lend itself perfectly to the Elenydd trail project. With the Oversized panel version of the U-Turn, it can be installed onto any accompanying panel making the possibilities for outdoor audio endless. They have each been situated by the five sculptures that Dan Lock created himself, complete with accompanying audio content for the specific story ranging from the ‘Knockers’ of Cwmsymlog to tales of the Maginogion and George Borrow’s account of Mid Wales when he in his own words, “went up a hill and came down a mountain.”
