Audio Frame – St Andrews Preservation Trust
“The audio frame has been loaded with six recordings from our oral history archive to provide an immersive insight into the local community’s memories of the fisherfolk. This is central to keeping the museum’s narratives alive whilst we undertake a major redevelopment project.”
– Ashab Ahmad, Project Outreach Officer
Established in 1937 dedicated to protecting and preserving historic buildings, St Andrews Preservation Trust has maintained numerous properties with the help of volunteers for over 85 years. With the buildings physically preserved, it was also important that their narratives are also preserved and shared. Ashab Ahmad, Project Outreach Manager at St Andrews Preservation Trust tells us how one of our Audio Frames helped during a period where their main museum was temporarily closed.
“We have been using the audio frame as part of our Pop-Up Exhibition about St Andrews’ fishing community, which is being displayed at several venues around St Andrews and Fife during the summer. The audio frame has been loaded with six recordings from our oral history archive to provide an immersive insight into the local community’s memories of the fisherfolk.”
“This is central to keeping the museum’s narratives alive whilst we undertake a major redevelopment project. We will look to reincorporate the audio frame into our new permanent displays for the future re-opening of the museum.”
This particular Audio Frame was slightly bespoke, instead of utilising the full colour graphic front panel option the Preservation Trust wanted the ability to print their own tracklist as and when required, so instead opted for an Audio Frame with a screw down perspex section.
