Bespoke Video Screen – Diefenbunker
The exhibit required a custom video unit that could also present audio while fitting into a very small pre-defined space. The resulting bespoke installation allows visitors to watch members of the Inuit community share oral histories on the DEW Line and how it impacted their lives.

The ‘Diefenbunker’, once a top-secret four storey underground bunker in Ottawa, is now a museum and national historic site, preserving Canada’s Cold War history. As part of a renewal effort Toronto based Blue Rhino Design were hired to create an exhibition focused on the Indigenous communities’ experiences of the Distance Early Warning (DEW) Line in Canada’s Arctic.
The exhibit required a custom video unit that could also present audio while fitting into a very small pre-defined space. The resulting bespoke installation allows visitors to watch members of the Inuit community share oral histories on the DEW Line and how it impacted their lives.
The unit combines our 10″ Open Frame Screen, 5 x 16mm buttons and a Heavy Duty Handset all built into a custom housing designed for easy install into the quite small space within existing signage.
