Audio Frame and Solar Post – Rainham Hall and Garden, National Trust

A Grade II listed Georgian House, Rainham Hall was originally the home to an 18th century merchant. Thanks to a £2.5 Million conservation project the Hall has since been opened to the public, offering something for all ages with events and exhibitions planned year round.
Two of the latest interpretive solutions at Rainham Hall seek to offer audio to visitors with a brief of being simple to use and easy to maintain. The above pictured Audio Frame is one of these solutions, it shares eight audio tracks that are activated via push buttons with 2 additional buttons for user volume control. The fully customised front plate displays a graphic designed by Rainham Hall themselves.
Audio is provided via ‘Hearing Loop Heavy Duty Handsets’, which not only share audio while limiting noise pollution, but are also accessible to people with hearing aids. While the unit itself is housed on a weighted free standing base, allowing it to be moved as and when required.
Outside you’ll find the second interpretive solution, a Wooden Solar Audio Post. This eco-friendly addition provides audio in Rainham Hall’s Community Garden without requiring any mains power whatsoever. The engraved top and front plates display easy to read instructions on how to activate audio on this robust solar powered device.
Both units have been a big hit at Rainham Hall, allowing the inclusion of audio interpretion both indoors and outside, really adding to the visitor experience.
