10″ POS Android Tablet – Guys Cancer Centre
Our 10″ POS Android Tablets were used to present the app to patients, allowing a locked down kiosk experience with simple power up / power down capability.
Bat Studio are an award-winning design company renowned for blending interactive elements and architecture with great results. This is especially so in the case of an installation at the Guys Cancer Centre where a lot of thought and care went into creating a welcoming space for cancer patients. The designers regularly consulted various stakeholders to ensure they met the exacting standards required within such a space.
As you can see from the image above, Bat Studio succeeded in creating an environment quite unique to one usually seen in a medical environment. The space presents a warm colour palette, bespoke bamboo furniture and embedded speakers that allow each patient to immerse themselves in calming, ambient soundscapes. Each seated zone is made in such a way that it allows people within metres of each other to hear totally different audio.
The soundscapes run on a bespoke Android app developed by creative studio The Workers, using real-time weather information to produce sounds representative of those that would be heard at that exact moment in locations around both the UK and the world.
Our 10″ POS Android Tablets were used to present the app to patients, allowing a locked down kiosk experience with simple power up / power down capability. Users can freely select the locations and sounds with the easy to use touch screen interface.
This is an amazing example of technology and design combining to offer a unique but very valuable user experience.
