Here’s just a snippet of news regarding some of our recent projects and some new robust headphones we offer, hopefully you’ll find it as interesting as we do!
Projects
The Milipwts Den – Wales Millennium Centre
The Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff has opened the Milipwts’ Den as a way to engage families and help teach children about the Centre and the role it plays for the arts. Thought up and designed by Hemisphere, brought to life by the animations of Studio Liddell and made a reality by the AV expertise of blackbox-av, this new addition to the Centre has seen a friendly and very talented group of bugs move into a space next to the Glanfa concourse.
Knebworth House – U-Turn Round
Dinosaurs can be heard roaring once again at Knebworth House thanks to the U-Turn Round!
Two U-Turn’s have been installed at different points along the sites Dinosaur Trail, an exciting walk where visitors encounter 72 life sized dinosaurs at various stages around the route.
Llanyrafon Manor – Audio Bench
In this bespoke project for Llanyrafon Manor in Torfaen we incorporated a solar powered push button sound point into a 6ft Teak bench.
Designed for commercial use the seat looks like any other park bench at first glance, however closer inspection uncovers a panel in the midsection etched with various images of birds and housing 2 buttons that can be pressed to play sequential audio clips.

Bespoke Interactives Sneak Peek
Take a sneak peek at some of the bespoke interactives we’ve coded for a large upcoming project at Finchingfield Guildhall for interpretation designers Smith&Jones.
We’ve not only put together an eclectic mix of touchscreen interactives for this project but also supplied all of the AV kit required to play them. We should be supervising their installation later this month.
Rohwer Dedication by George Takei
The Rohwer Internment Museum in Arkansas has been officially opened in a dedication ceremony led by actor George Takei, who regretfully called the place home during the Second World War.
Blackbox-av are proud to be involved in this project in some small way through the supply of Solar Audio Posts and Audio Signs to designers 106 Group.
